It's true. This morning I ran 13.1 miles in and around Golden Gate Park in about 110 minutes: a pretty great time for me. And unlike a lot of races, our triathlon group "trained through" this one, which means we didn't reduce our training a lot last week, as we'd normally do in anticipation of a race. So at 9am yesterday we were out at Aquatic Park swimming and running (not at the same time).
The weird thing about today's race is that it was a personal record in every sense. It's the longest distance I've ever run in my life and it's the fastest I've ever run over an extended distance. It's a personal benchmark that I won't be able to forget or ignore.
